800 Theaters Across the US and Canada to Screen ‘Never Forget Tibet’

 

The feature-length documentary film ‘Never Forget Tibet’, which for the first time features the 14th Dalai Lama recounting his experiences of escape from Lhasa to India in 1959, is set to premier across 800 screens in the US and Canada on March 31, 2022. The film is produced by Compassionate Films.

The date of premier holds special significance for Tibetans and its well-wishers across the globe since this day in 1959, the 14th Dalai Lama escaped from Lhasa to India and eventually settled in the hill city of Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, India, marking its 63rd anniversary.

Interesting facts from the movie and the premier:

  • The movie covers various themes like world history, spirituality, art, Tibetan Buddhism and culture, while the 14th Dalai Lama has also delivered messages on building tolerance and climate threats facing the world, in the movie.
  • The movie is narrated by Golden Globe Nominee and Downton Abbey fame actor Hugh Bonneville and features music by Grammy-nominated artist Anoushka Shankar, the daughter of Indian music legend, Sri Ravi Shankar.
  • It will also feature Sikyong Penpa Tsering from CTA, Deepak Chopra, Professor Robert A.F. Thurman and Grandmother Flordemayo, amongst others.
