Enes Kanter to be honored with 2022 Geneva Summit Courage Award tomorrow

 

Geneva: Enes Freedom Kanter, the "NBA athlete and activist currently risking his career for speaking out against China's persecution of ethnic Uyghurs", will receive the 2022 Geneva Summit’s Courage Award here on 6th April 2022.

Zumretay Arkin, World Uyghur Congress Women’s Committee Chair will present the award to Freedom.

 A discussion on “The Struggle for Human Rights in China” moderated by Luke de Pulford, Founder & CEO of Arise and attended by Tenzin Tsundue ( Tibetan refugee and writer, arrested 16 times for his activism), Joey Siu (Policy Advisor at Hong Kong Watch, Advisor to Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China) and Rushan Abbas, (Founder of Campaign for Uyghurs, sister of political prisoner in China) is scheduled to happen at 10.30 a.m.

The Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy is an annual human rights summit sponsored by a coalition of 20 non-governmental organizations. Each year, on the eve of the United Nations Human Rights Council's main annual session, activists from around the world meet to raise international awareness of human rights situations.
