Varying ideas across Tibetan organisations must not harm united battle to resolve Tibet matter: Sikyong

Dharamshala: Given the differences in pursuit techniques between various Tibetan NGOs, Sikyong stated that "the varying ideas and opinions across Tibetan organisations must not harm the united battle to resolve the Tibet matter".  He was addressing a conference titled "Relevance and Significance of the Dalai Lama Institution" in Dharamshala held on August 24 and 25 by the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) to examine the importance and relevance of the Dalai Lama institution, its future, and the Dalai Lama's continued reincarnation.

Along with the guest speakers, Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) attended the conference's opening ceremony as the conference's chief guest. Along with more than 200 participants from 80 TYC chapters situated in 14 different countries, TYC president Gonpo Dhundup, vice president Lobsang Tsering, and general secretary Sonam Tsering attended the two-day conference.

The Dalai Lama Institution's historical evolution and its influence on the Tibetan Buddhist world, the Dalai Lama Institution's geopolitical significance, the role of the Dalai Lamas in the Tibetan freedom struggle, and the future of the Dalai Lama Institution were among the topics covered by the TYC President in his opening remarks at the symposium.

The President of the organising NGO hoped to foster the much-needed awareness and understanding of the Dalai Lama and the institution's significance in advancing the interests of Tibetan national and people. He believed that such understanding ensures continued respect for and support of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's leadership and the role of the Dalai Lama Institution in the current state of Tibet.

The primary guest, Sikyong Penpa Tsering, addressed the crowd after receiving a thangka depicting a four-armed Avalokiteshvara as a token of respect and gratitude from President Gonpo. He emphasised unity among the many Tibetan organisations. Given the differences in pursuit techniques between various Tibetan NGOs, Sikyong stated that "the varying ideas and opinions across Tibetan organisations must not harm the united battle to resolve the Tibet matter."

Sikyong highlighted the enormous benefits that successive Dalai Lamas brought to the Tibetan people and nation while asking Tibetans to extend their perspectives to understand one another in order to build a cohesive and peaceful community under His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The primary visitor in particular emphasised how kind and generous the current Dalai Lama is to Tibetans who have maintained and continued Tibetan cultural legacy in exile.

Additionally, Sikyong briefed the crowd on the 16th Kashag's priority of resolving the Tibet issue while providing a brief overview of the Kashag's goals to the TYC members gathered at the location.
