Tibetan Activist Chemi Lhamo to speak at Oslo Freedom Forum 2022

 

Oslo: Tibetan- Canadian activist and community organizer Chemi Lhamo will be a speaker at the 14th Oslo Freedom Forum 2022 to “emphasize the importance of advocating for a world where everyone is free”. The Sikyong will join a galaxy of world’s most influential dissidents, innovators, journalists, philanthropists, and policymakers to discuss how to protect democracy where it is most at risk.

The annual Oslo Freedom Forum hosts talks from some of the world’s bravest human rights defenders in the magnificent Oslo Concert Hall and provide people with an opportunity to engage with interactive art installations and live music performances and explore the struggle for freedom through panel discussions and workshops with thought leaders from around the world.

Chemi Lhamo  was arrested in Athens for participating in an anti-Olympics protest. Chemi Lhamo is also one of the 50 Canadians who are selected for Maclean’s annual power list.

Jewher Ilham, Uyghur advocate, daughter of imprisoned scholar Ilham Tohti will also speak at the Forum. Other notable speakers include Agnès Callamard, Secretary General of Amnesty International, Awakkol Karman, Yemeni Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Glacier Kwong, Hong Kong Political & Digital Rights Activist.
